Landry Presides Over Gathering as
President of the Nation's Attorneys General
BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry
this week is leading the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Fall Meeting,
a bipartisan quarterly meeting held as a training for the Attorneys General of
all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealths of Puerto Rico and
Northern Mariana Islands, and the territories of American Samoa, Guam, and the
Virgin Islands.
Earlier this year, General Landry took over as NAAG
President. In this role, he chairs all meetings held within his time as
President. The NAAG Fall Meeting is unique to other quarterly meetings as it
serves as the training for new Attorneys General recently elected in November.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to oversee this
NAAG meeting as President,” said General Landry. “We are proud to have past and
current Attorneys General and other legal and law enforcement professionals
educating both veteran and incoming Attorneys General.”
Furthermore, in his position as President, General
Landry is continuing to develop his presidential initiative: Emergency and
Crisis Management. The Fall Meeting is an opportunity for General Landry to
expand on the initiative by getting input from his fellow Attorneys General on
both sides of the political aisle, all of whom have different perspectives on
how to handle crises.
“As I have said before, every attorney general has gone
through some crisis or natural disaster in his or her state or territory,”
General Landry added. “Our primary role as Attorneys General is to keep our
citizens safe; and my hope is that by discussing best practices, our States
will be prepared should tragedy strike. I will continue to seek counsel from my
counterparts and will remain grateful for the opportunity they have given me to
serve them in this leadership role.”
