BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry today announced that his Medicaid Fraud Control Unit has arrested four people from South Louisiana on Medicaid fraud charges.

“Medicaid Fraud is a problem in Louisiana; and with the Governor’s recent expansion, we unfortunately anticipate even more people stealing from the needy,” said Attorney General Jeff Landry. “Our award-winning fraud detection and prevention unit will continue working hard to uncover, investigate, and arrest criminals who defraud the Medicaid system.”

Mary Altemus, 51 of LaPlace, was arrested on 4 counts of Medicaid fraud. Altemus allegedly submitted time sheets and service log for services not rendered. 

Deloris Crockett, 57 of Kenner, was arrested on 8 counts of Medicaid fraud. Crockett allegedly signed time sheets and service logs for services not provided to her children.

Paulette Riley, 57 of New Orleans, was arrested on 4 counts of Medicaid fraud. Riley, the owner/biller of Employment Assistance Services, allegedly submitted false claims to the Medicaid program for long-term personal care services.

Tim Ursin, 53 of Saint Rose, was arrested on 4 counts of Medicaid fraud. Ursin allegedly submitted time sheets and service logs for services not rendered. 

All four were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Medicaid fraud occurs when providers use the Medicaid program to obtain money to which they are not entitled.
