Louisiana Department of Justice Calls for Renewed Communication with NOPD

BATON ROUGE, LA – The Louisiana Department of Justice (LADOJ) has recently sent a letter to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

The letter to NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison from Joe Picone, director of the LADOJ's Investigation Division, expressed a desire to have better communication between the LADOJ and NOPD regarding Attorney General Jeff Landry’s effort in helping fight crime in New Orleans.

In July 2016, AG Landry announced that the LADOJ's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation was beginning a new initiative to assist local, state, and federal law enforcement in a joint effort to keep New Orleans safe. At that press conference, several leaders in New Orleans expressed their support for AG Landry’s efforts (see video).

Earlier this month - the continued support came in letters from Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman, Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro, and Police Association of New Orleans President Mike Glasser. (full letters in More Resources)
